amelia's favorites

Well February came and went. Time obviously got away from me. As most of you know from Instagram- Amelia is now six months old! This is such an exciting time for us. I mean, she's always had a very distinct personality, but now she's definitely showing it off! This little lady LOVES to play and learn. She has such an inquisitive nature and loves to get her hands on anything around her and study it. Here are a few things that keep my happy little lady content at the moment:

1. 'Indestructibles' - these books are PERFECT for your teething little ones. They can be chewed on, slobbered on, crinkled up and they only look better with time. The best part- as their name states they are INDESTRUCTIBLE and 100% safe from any tears! They offer a variety of titles and each one has the best graphics. These can be found virtually anywhere from Barnes and Noble to Amazon and for just under a whopping $5 (I KNOW!) who couldn't afford to fill their entire library with these?!

2. This darling handmade Sasquatch from my good friend Heather (@elheathero). This is seriously Amelia's best friend. He is a heavy favorite in our house and we never leave without him. I only wish this lady had an etsy shop because she is one of the most talented crafters I know!

3. Personalized teether from Little Sapling Toys on Etsy. For only $12 your baby can have this safe, Eco friendly, USA made teether to represent the state nearest and dearest to your heart. In Amelia's case mommy was a rambler so we chose daddy's home state of California. The best part about these amazing teethers is that, not only do you receive free shipping, but they plant a tree for every item sold! Hooray for helping the planet!

4.FINGER PUPPETS!! It is insane to me how entertained she is by these crazy things! I swear- the second she sees one she starts cracking up like she was at an Aziz Ansari comedy show. The best part is that they are, like, the cheapest things on the planet. And they're EVERYWHERE. Michael's, Ikea, Target...name a place- it probably has finger puppets.

5. Infantino Monkey Teether. We will call this the cousin of the Sophie the Giraffe teether and at only $13  you can mosey on over to your nearest Target and pick up this much cheaper, but just as lovable, version of your favorite teether!

I would love to hear what all your little ones enjoy playing with!

best buy

recently I stumbled upon what is probably my best discovery to date: Artifact Uprising. for those of you still in the dark, Artifact Uprising offers amazing photo books (among other things) that are completely customizable by you! I have been searching for a place to construct a photo book for the TONS of pictures I have of Amelia and decided to try their 5x5 instagram friendly option. this soft-cover book is made of 100% recycled pages in the good ol' USofA and comes standard with 40 customizable pages for the almost unbelievable price of $10.99. As if that weren't amazing enough- you also have the option of additional pages for only twenty five cents (which I will definitely elect to take advantage of on my next order)!

to be honest, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect when I placed my order. I mean, c'mon eleven bucks, there had to be a catch- BUT THERE WASN'T! After what seemed like no time at all I now have in my hands:

the most perfect little baby book. I can't wait to make more! if you are looking for a sweet, affordable way to document your most treasured memories I definitely recommend taking a look at their website and check out their instagram account for some examples of what other customers have done. Truly amazing little company.

growing like a weed

recently we had Amelia's 4 month appointment, which took place at 4.5 months because we were a bit behind with her vaccinations. Amelia has been struggling with weight gain (in that she hasn't) for the past 2.5 months so you can imagine how shocked- and elated!- we were to find out that in the course of two weeks this little dumpling gained a pound and a half! I really can say that it is the best news we've received in a while and I attribute it all to her starting solid foods.she LOVES them. carrots, spinach, broccoli, bananas, plums, rutabaga- they're all good in her book! we have to see the doctor again in a month to make sure she's steadily growing and we are very optimistic. now, an extremely adorable picture for your viewing pleasure:

cat & cow

after many jokes, a few requests, and an innumerable amount of nights spent laying awake mulling it over, I have decided to finally start a blog.

before I even start- I feel that I need to give recognition to Amanda of Shh! Maker Design for creating my header. in all of its simplicity it truly captures what I want for my little nook in the World Wide Web. her etsy shop has amazing illustrations and her blog is a good read, too!

this will not be a DIY blog (although I will post projects here and there).

it will not be a mommy blog (even as I fully plan on posting Amelia's and my activities together).

and it will not be a lifestyle blog, but rather a ME blog- a place for me to document my thoughts, hopes, plans, pictures and musings, whatever their relation to myself as a mother as well as just me.

I hope, if anyone reads this, that they get as much enjoyment out of it as I do.
